Podcasts move over, vlogs are here

Now that didn't take very long. Within weeks after the podcasting hype landed, vlogs (video weblogs) are trying to take over the spotlight.

At first glance, I have the same problem with a video blog that I have with a podcast. The computer simply isn't a medium that we use for listening to audio or watching video. And while I can still listen to a podcast on my iPod (provided that podcasters start creating content that's worth listening to), I'm bound to my desktop or laptop computer to watch a vlog.

Besides, most people aren't technically capable of creating a video file that is worth watching. But that might be a good thing because it creates some evolutionary selection.

PS. Silicon Valley's Sleuth new year's resolution for 2005 is to write less about weblogs. But it remains a sector where a lot of exiting things are happening and that has the potential to upset the status quo in the world of traditional media as well as forcing a new level of openess from big corporations.
