Oracle and Sun sitting in a tree
Oracle's Larry Ellison and Sun CEO Scott McNealy hosted a "town hall meeting" for their employees and the media on Tuesday afternoon to reaffirm their commitment to each other.
Concretely Sun said that it will start selling hardware bundles with a pre-installed database. Oracle meanwhile renewed its Java license for another 10 year.
But other than that, this appears to be mostly a photo-opportunity where the two chief executives can rub shoulders in public and take on their collective enemy: IBM. Meanwhile Oracle used the occasion to leash out against SAP while Sun got to trash Dell.
